How It Works

OpenClaw connects to your Home Assistant instance via its REST API. You can then control any Home Assistant entity through natural language in your messaging apps.

Setup

  1. Generate a long-lived access token in Home Assistant
  2. Install the Home Assistant skill in OpenClaw
  3. Configure the skill with your HA URL and token
  4. Start controlling your home through chat!

Example Commands

  • "Turn off all the lights"
  • "Set the thermostat to 72°F"
  • "Is the front door locked?"
  • "What's the temperature in the bedroom?"
  • "Turn on movie mode" (scenes)

Automation

Combine with OpenClaw cron to create scheduled home routines — morning wake-up sequences, goodnight routines, energy-saving schedules.
